iVend POS - 4 Methods to login into iVend POS – An Overview
iVend Retail allows users to access the Point of Sale (POS) in multiple ways. Depending on the security requirements and business scenarios, the user can use different methods to access the iVend POS, these are:
1. User ID and Password
2. Magnetic Stripe Card
3. Barcode Reader
4. Biometrics Device
To configure the Login method, please log into the Management Console and go to:
Administration > Authorization > Security User.
1. Click the [F3 New] button to create a new Security User or select a user displayed in the list on screen and press [F4 Edit] if you wish to update an existing user. You can also copy an existing user by pressing [F6 Copy].
2. Access for the User can be granted in the following ways:
a. Login Id and Password: Please enter the Login Id for the Security User. A unique code with a maximum of 20 alpha-numeric characters can be entered. A password needs to be entered for the Security User, which they can be allowed to change in subsequent logins. A password with a maximum of 20 alpha-numeric characters can be entered – The default format requires the following structure:
a. A minimum of seven (7) characters
b. At least one (1) upper case letter
c. At least one (1) lower case letter
d. At least one (1) numeric character
e. At least one (1) special character, e.g. @#$%&*!
b. Magnetic Stripe Card: If magnetic stripe cards are used for login into the POS, then the Security User will still need a Login Id and Password as above however, they will also be assigned an Electronic ID, a unique code to a maximum of 40 alpha-numeric characters can be entered. This code will be used with the magnetic card to log into the system instead of manually entering the User Id and Password. Now the user can use both methods, the manual log in option along with the magnetic card to log into the POS. The system can be configured for the user, to enforce that the magnetic card must be used to log in – for this, check the option, Must User Magnetic Card.
c. Barcode reader: The third method of login is by using a barcode reader attached to the POS. Once again, the Electronic Id entered on the Security User, can be printed as a barcode on a card. This card can be scanned by the barcode reader attached to the POS. The barcode will then be internally matched with the Electronic Id attached to the Security User and when successful, the system will log the user into the POS with their Security ID.
d. Biometric device: iVend Retail POS allows users to log in through a biometric device connected to the POS. The model supported by iVend Retail is the Digital Persona. Please install and register the device at the iVend Enterprise Management Console and/or at the Store Management Console for the user. Click on the [Enrol Finger Print] button. The user can enrol one or all fingers into the system by following the process defined in the below screen. Once the registration is successful, the user will be able to log into the POS just by scanning their finger for which the print has been enrolled in the system.\
