Scheduler Service

Scheduler Service

Introduction

The Scheduler service in iVend is required to trigger the scheduled jobs such as mailing reports, generating query results, running campaign management and managing other internal tasks such as replying to SMS calls, Emailing transaction receipts to customers and generating iVend Loyalty related services and notifications.

It is a mandatory requirement to configure and have running the Scheduler service to use the aforementioned iVend functionality.
Depending upon the server used for these services, configure the Scheduler service on the Enterprise and on the individual store servers.

Configuring Scheduler Service

Let us see how the Scheduler service can be configured in iVend:

1. On the iVend Enterprise and/or Store server, open the  iVend Configuration Manager from the Windows Start menu. The iVend Configuration Manager icon will appear in the Windows System Tray.

2. Right-click on the icon, and using your mouse, hover over the menu option, Configure Service and then select Scheduler from the sub-menu that pops-up.

3. The Scheduler Service Configuration window will appear.

4. Enter the details in the fields as explained in the following table:

1. Click [Update] to save the changes made.

2. Click the [Start] icon to start the Scheduler service. The service must be running for all of the aforementioned features to function correctly.

3. Clicking the [Stop] icon will stop the Scheduler service – this can be used to restart the service if it should be required by clicking the [Stop] icon and then by pressing the [Start] icon.

To make any changes to the  Scheduler Service Configuration window, you must first stop the service, then it is possible to update the fields.

Adding Multiple Scheduler Services

In the event that multiple iVend companies (databases) are configured on the iVend Enterprise server, the user can define Scheduler services individually for each of the companies.

Let us add a new Scheduler service on the iVend Enterprise Server:

1. On the  Scheduler Service Configuration window, select the [Add] icon (+).

2. A New Scheduler Service Configuration window will appear.

3. Enter in the details in the fields as explained in the following table:

1. Choose [Update] to save the configuration for the additional Scheduler service.
2. The user can now access these services from the dropdown on the  Scheduler Service Configuration window – refer to the following screen image for an example.
