Introduction
POS wildcards enables a cashier to quickly modify quantity of an item, its price and discounts offered, without even requiring him or her to navigate to the item edit screen at the POS. This in turn results in a faster transaction time at the POS.
1. Log into the iVend Management Console and go to Administration > Retail Configuration > Retail Profile
2. Select a Retail Profile from the Retail Profile Search screen and press [F4 Edit].
3. Scroll down and go to the POS Wild Cards option and expand the view. Here you will be able to see the four (4) options for which you can define wildcards, for use at the POS, namely for Quantity, Price, Discount % and Discount Amount.
4. Enter a special character in the field which will be treated as a wildcard at POS, examples are: @#%$&*!. Refer to the screen image above for guidance.
5. Click [Ok] to save the changes. The system will prompt the user to restart the Management Console before changes made to Retail Profile can be updated in the system, click [Ok].
Note: You need to restart the POS as well as the Management Console to update the changes made to the Retail Profile.
6. Log into the iVend POS.
7. Scan in a product to add to the open transaction.
8. Now, for the current example and let us assume we want to increase the Quantity of the scanned item to five (5). In this case if the cashier wants to increase the quantity, they would normally need to either scan the product an additional four (4) times or they would need to click on the Quantity field to edit it, which would take several extra steps regardless of the option chosen.
9. With the Wildcards enabled, all the cashier has to do, is simply enter the relevant wildcard, in this case we have defined the @ character for Quantity, therefore the cashier enters @ followed by the value. So, to increase the quantity to five (5) they enter @5 in the scan area and press enter – Refer to the screen image below for guidance.
10. The quantity of the selected item will change to five (5).
11. If the cashier then wants to decrease the quantity of the selected item, he or she can simply type @ followed by a lesser value; the quantity will decrease to the value entered. Please note, that it is not possible to make the quantity zero for the scanned item through the use of Wildcards.
12. Similarly, the cashier can use other wildcards to modify the Price, Discount % and Discount Amount.
