  • Covers Multiple Fixes: May include security enhancements, bug fixes, and feature upgrades.

  • Requires Testing: Ensures stability across the system before deployment.

  • Can Be Larger in Scope: May involve extensive changes to functionalities.

NotesNote: The current version of iVend Retail must be 8864 or higher in order to deploy this patch (either installed through installer or updated through patch).

Steps to deploy the patch

The steps to deploy the patch are summarized below:

Step 1: Downloading the Patch

To begin the upgrade, download the latest patch from the Portal.

Step 2: Copying Essential Files

Once downloaded, copy the following folders from the uploaded Patch folder to the directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\CitiXsys\iVend Retail

  • ConfigurationManager

  • Integration

  • iVendAPI

  • PatchUpdater

  • ReportWebViewer

  • SchedulerService

Step 3: Updating Offline POS Files

Manually replace all Offline POS files and directories, except for the "POS" folder, if applicable.

Step 4: Deploying Patch Updates

Use Patch Updater to apply updates to the following components:

  • Database_Patch_Version

  • ManagementConsole_Patch_Version

  • PointOfSale_Patch_Version

  • Replication_Patch_Version

These updates ensure that the matching Store, POS, and Offline POS files are automatically replicated.

Step 5: Replication File Transfer

Manually copy all files from the "iVendReplicationWinService" patch folder to an offline machine with the same folder structure. All other replication files will be updated automatically via the replication services.

Notes
Note: This process will require significant time. Ensure you schedule the patch upgrade with sufficient downtime to accommodate the update.

Step 6: Update the JSON File

For OFFPOS, the user must update Newtonsoft.Json from version 6 to version 11. This change should be made in the iVendReplicationWinService.exe.config file, located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\CitiXsys\iVend Retail\iVendReplicationWinService

Conclusion

Patches are vital for maintaining seamless retail operations by fixing errors, enhancing security, and introducing new functionalities without disrupting day-to-day activities. Regularly applying patches ensures stable, efficient, and secure retail software, improving both customer experience and business performance.
