Manager Override
Manager override can either be configured through the Management Console or can be enabled from the Point of Sale user menu.
Manager override when configured through the Management console, will apply all the validations on the POS user as configured through the Retail Profile configuration in Management console of the logged-in POS user. In this case, the manager override screen will pop up for all the activities configured in Management console for manager override approvals for the logged-in POS user based on validations applicable on the Retail Profile of the logged in POS user. Whenever any field is edited by the POS User, the manager will be required to login to validate the edited information in the line item. The POS user can edit the line information to a limit permissible as per their Retail Profile, irrespective of limits given to the manager Retail Profile.
When Manager override is enabled from the POS's user menu, no restrictions will be applicable for the logged-in POS user irrespective of the profile to which the POS user or manager is assigned.
Scenario 1.
Manager override configured through the Management Console
Step1. Configure Manager Profile to allow 20% discount on line items.
Step2. Configure Cashier profile to allow 10% discount on the line items
Step 3. Enable Manager Override Setting for Cashier Profile for allowing Item information edit permission to the cashier.
Step 4. Log in to POS as cashier
Step 5. Click on the line item to edit for discount. Manager Override Confirmation pop up screen appears.
Step 6. Click Yes and log in as Manager to allow cashier to provide discount.
Step 7. When Manager allows cashier to provide 11% discount. Here an error message is shown as cashier cannot give over than 10% discount on the line item. This is because the cashier discount limit is only 10% on a line item. Here Manager discount limit will not be applicable.
Step 8. When Manager allows cashier to provide 10% discount. Here no error message is shown as cashier can give up to 10% discount on the line item. This is because the cashier discount limit is only 10% on a line item. Here Manager discount limit will not be applicable.
Step 9. The applied 10% discount is visible on the line item
Step 10. Cashier can now quick complete the transaction with the 10% Discounted amount.
Scenario 2.
Manager override enabled from the Point of Sale user menu.
Step1. Log in to POS as cashier
Step 2. Add product on POS
Step 3. Click on Start Manager Override from Point of Sale user menu.
Step 4 Log in as manager
Step 5. The manager override screen opens where manager can edit the discount information.
Step 6. Here Manager can grant discount percentage. Please note that the discount percentage limit will not be governed by the percentage limit defined in Management console of the cahier profile as well as manager profile. So manage can ideally grant more than 20% discount on the line item.
The discount percentage entered by the manager will be applicable to the line item and will be displayed on the manager screen.
Step 7. The cahier can now complete the sale with the discounted percentage entered by the manager and can complete the transaction.
The above two scenarios explain the difference between the options for enabling the manager override from Management Console and from POS user menu.
