Manage item type by can not be changed from None/Serial numbers in SAPB1

Environment: 

iVend 6.6 with SAP B1 9.2

Problem statement: 

Error in SAP B1 'Manage item type by can not be changed from None/Serial numbers to Batches'

Symptoms: 

When changing the item management type at SAP to batch type item, the following error is encountered:


Resolution/Work Around:

The "Manage item by" field cannot be changed manually once it is created.
Such iVend Notification validation shouldn't be changed or removed in SAP B1 as it is by design to handle inventory mismatch.
However, the following workaround can be followed:
1) Create new items (export the current items and make them batch managed)
2) Mark the current items as inactive and now export the new item list.
