iVend POS – Selling Weighted Items using a Weighing Scale at the POS
iVend Retail Point of Sale (POS) has been designed to work in different verticals with varied requirements. One such requirement is the selling of items by weight such as in grams, kilograms, etc. In this article we will explain how to setup and use the weighted item functionality in iVend Retail POS.
To configure weighed items, please follow the steps mentioned below:
1. In the Management Console, go to: Operations > Inventory > Product
2. Search for a product that you wish to be sold in weight. Select and click [F4 Edit].
3. Select the following fields as checked to mark them as enabled – refer to the following screen images for guidance:
a. Allow Fractional Quantity
b. Weighed
4. In the Management Console, go to: Administration > Retail Configuration > Hardware Registration
5. Create and register the Weighing Scale hardware device in iVend.
6. Attach the newly created and registered Weighing Scale device to the Hardware Profile that is attached to the POS.
7. Log into the iVend POS
8. Search for and select the Weight managed product and at it to the Sale transaction at the POS. Upon selection of weighed item, the system will pop-up the Weighted Item Details screen where the user needs to enter the weight of the product or in the case where the Weighing Scale is integrated with the iVend POS, the weight is automatically picked up from the actual Weighing Scale.
9. Press the [Ok] button.
10. The Weighted Product gets added to POS Sale transaction.
11. Process the Payment to complete the transaction.
