How to Resolve Timeout Expired Error

This knowledge base article will assist you in resolving the Timeout Expired error, which is a common error that occurs in .IRT extension type reports (iVend Retail Report Designer reports). Overview

The iVend Database and SQL Database remain connected and the reports synchronise automatically. There are a few common errors that are observed when the connection string doesn’t refresh between the iVend Retail Database and the SQL Server.

Reason

This error occurs when the report is running and is taking a long time to fetch the data, which causes the connection to the SQL Server session to break.

Solution

Follow these steps to resolve the Timeout Expire error:

1. Open the report in iVend Reports Designer.

2. Expand the iVendConnection [SQL Connection] under the Data Source.

3. Right-click on the existing dataset and select Properties from the Dictionary pod.

4. Change the Command Timeout from 30 to 0 in the Properties pod.
