iVend POS – Gift Certificate Recharge and Cash Back Options
In addition to issuing gift certificates, iVend POS allows the user to recharge the gift voucher making it environmentally friendly and convenient for the shopper, especially if the full value of the certificate has not been redeemed. Furthermore, iVend provides flexibility to customer by allowing the option to provide a cash back on the full or partial value of the gift certificates.
1. Log into the iVend Management Console. Go to: Operations > Gift Certificates > Gift Certificate
2. Select a Gift Certificate from the list displayed and press the [F4 Edit] button to change the settings for the selected gift certificate.
3. Select the checkbox field, Cash Back to mark it as enabled, which will activate the cashback option.
Note: There is no setting for Gift Certificate Recharge. By default, the recharge option is available to all users and comes down to a simple business policy as to whether to allow it or not. The feature is always available regardless.
4. Press [Ok] to save the changes made and to exit the Gift Certificate setup window. Pressing the [Cancel] button will not save any changes made and the Gift Certificate window will be closed.
Gift Certificate Recharge
1. To start with, we will look at the Recharge option for the Gift Certificate.
2. Log into the iVend POS, then click on the iVend Retail Logo on the top left-hand corner of the POS screen – this will take you to the POS User Menu.
3. The POS User Menu opens - click on the menu option, Gift Certificate.
4. On the Gift Certificate Search screen, search for and select the gift certificate which is required to be recharged and then click on the [Recharge] button and then press the [Ok] button on the User Menu to return to the main POS transaction scree
5. The Gift Certificate is now added to the main transaction screen. The cashier needs to click on the price field to update the value of the Gift Certificate with the amount that the customer wants to recharge it with.
6. On the Gift Certificate Information window that appears, the cashier can enter the value that the customer wishes to recharge the Gift Certificate with, then press the [Enter] key followed by the [Ok] button to save the amount entered and to return to the main transaction screen.
7. We can see that the Price field has been updated. All that is required now to complete the recharge of the Gift Certificate is to process the payment.
To verify the recharge, the cashier can go back and search for the Gift Certificate via the POS User Menu, as before – here he or she will see that the Gift Certificate has been recharged.
Gift Certificate Cash Back
1. Next, we will look at the steps required to perform a Cash Back. Follow the same steps as before to search on and locate the Gift Certificate that you wish to perform the Cash Back on – Select the Gift Certificate and press the [Cash Back] button, then press the [Ok] button to take you back to the main POS transaction screen.
2. The Gift Certificate is added to POS transaction screen and the Price field will display the available balance remaining on the Gift Certificate as a negative value in readiness to process the Cash Back (refund) to the customer.
3. The cashier just needs to process the payment as a refund to the customer in order to complete the Cash Back on the Gift Certificate.
To verify the cash back, the cashier can go back and search for the Gift Certificate via the POS User Menu, as before – here he or she will see that the Gift Certificate available balance is now zero as the Cash Back has been completed.
