Effective use of iVend Mobile POS, in a live production environment will require a set of retail peripherals to be connected and configured with the mobile device. These retail peripherals fall into two (2) broad categories – scanners and printers.
Scanners are required to scan the barcodes, or the credit cards and printers are required to print the receipts.
Mentioned below, is the list of supported hardware on iVend Mobile POS:
· Wi-Fi Printer with Air Print
· Bluetooth Printer: Bixolon: SPP-R300i
· Bluetooth Printer: Star Micronics: SM-S220i
· IDTECH Shuttle - Mobile Magstripe Reader
· Socket Mobile Bluetooth Barcode Scanner: CHS 7Xi
· Linea Pro 4 with Mobile Printer DPP-250BT – for iPhone 4 and 4S
Depending upon their make and model, retail peripherals can either be connected to the mobile POS through a Bluetooth connection or alternatively they can be directly connected (strapped) to the mobile device.
The article below explains the steps taken to connect and configure the retail peripherals to the Mobile POS.
Once the application is downloaded and installed on the mobile device, the next step is to connect and configure the retail peripherals.
All peripherals are setup in the Configuration section on the mobile device.
Wi-Fi Printer with Air Print
1. Ensure that the Air Printer is switched ON and the Air Printer and mobile device are on the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Select the Air Print option in the configuration section of the mobile app
3. At the time of printing, the app will show all the available Air Printers in the network. Select the appropriate printer to print the receipt.
4. The app will remember the last selected printer while printing the next and subsequent receipts.
Bluetooth Printer: Bixolon: SPP-R300i
1. Ensure that the printer in adequately charged. Please read the manual accompanying the printer.
2. The Bixolon Printer by default is configured for iOS devices
3. Turn Bluetooth ON and look for SPP-R300 in the list of discoverable Bluetooth devices.
4. Tap SPP-R300 in the list.
5. Type 0000 as the PIN and tap on Pair
6. The printer is now connected to the iOS mobile device.
7. Open iVend Mobile App and select Bluetooth Printer in the configuration settings.
8. Select the paper size as ‘3’
9. Press Save and then Back
10. The printer is now connected and configured in the iOS mode
Bluetooth Printer Star Micronics: SM-S220i
1. Ensure that the printer in adequately charged. Please read the manual accompanying the printer.
2. The Star Micronics printer by default is configured in the iOS mode.
3. Turn Bluetooth on and look for Star Micronics in the list of discoverable Bluetooth devices.
4. Tap Star Micronics in the list.
5. Type 1234 as the PIN and tap on Pair
6. The printer is now connected to the iOS mobile device.
7. Open iVend Mobile App and select Bluetooth Printer in the configuration settings.
8. Select the paper size as ‘2’
9. Press Save and then Back
10. The printer is now connected and configured in the iOS mode
IDTECH Shuttle - Mobile Magstripe Reader
The IDTECH Shuttle connects to the headset jack of the mobile devices.
1. Insert the IDTECH Shuttle into the headset jack of the iOS device
2. Maximize the volume from the volume control buttons
3. In the configuration settings of iVend Mobile app, switch ON IDTECH MagStripe Reader and press Save.
4. The IDTECH Shuttle is now configured for the App running on an iOS device
Socket Mobile Bluetooth Barcode Scanner: CHS 7Xi
1. Ensure that the socket scanner is adequately charged. Please read the user manual accompanying the socket scanner for this.
2. Turn on the Socket scanner by pressing and holding the power button.
3. Scan the command barcode for “iOS Mode” included in the Socket scanner user manual. This step is important to ensure that the application is able to read barcodes.
4. Turn Bluetooth on and look for Socket 7Xi in the list of discoverable Bluetooth devices.
5. Tap Socket 7Xi in the list to pair it. It should now say “Connected” in the list.
6. Log on to iVend Mobile App and switch ON Socket Mobile Scanner option in the Configuration Settings.
Linea Pro 4 with Mobile Printer DPP-250BT – for iPhone 4 and 4S
Linea Pro 4 and Mobile Printer DPP-250BT are installed together as a combo.
To install an iPod Touch or iPhone into to Linea Pro 4, follow these steps:
1. Remove the smaller top section from the larger bottom section of the Linea Pro.
2. Slide the iPod Touch or iPhone into the larger bottom section until it fits firmly in place.
3. Fit the clip of the top section into the corresponding slot of the bottom section and click it into place.
4. In the configuration settings in the app, switch ON the Linea Pro option under the Transaction Section and tap Save.
5. The jacket will make a beep
6. Click on Bluetooth Printer under the printer settings and select IPC DPP-250
7. Select the paper size as ‘2’ and tap Save.
8. The Linea Pro 4 with DPP-250BT is now connected and configured.
